2014 Thanksgiving!

This year we spent the Thanksgiving holiday with my sister who lives in Indiana.  It was so nice to spend the holiday with them, since when we lived in Texas we hardly ever came up to see them.  We always feel right at home when we are at their house...and I am sure they were totally ready for us to leave since with 2 small children, they need a lot of crap.  It was so nice to sleep in a comfortable bed, lay on a cozy couch, watch a normal sized TV, drink coffee from a Keurig....I know, I know...total first world problems, but we are O-V-E-R this corporate apartment, ugh!

For those that know me well, you know I am my mothers daughter.  So, in my mind it was completely necessary to purchase these "awesome" Thanksgiving photo props in order to make the holiday that much more festive.  Everyone "loved" them.

My cooperative 4 year old

My sister lives 4 hours away, however this time, Derek wanted to "try" a new way (insert eye roll).  So, we literally pull out of our apartment and into the dunkin' donuts drive through to get coffee, and  Derek announces that he all of a sudden doesn't feel well...ugh.  So, not only did we try Derek's "new" way (which took FOREVER) he was also hunkered down in the front seat in pain with a massive headache....and our kids didn't seem to care.  What seemed like the longest trip ever finally came to a close, and we made it to Fishers!  Thank you Lord!

For our third year in a row, we fried our turkey and it was SO good!

We had a little fun trying on Uncle Doug's cowboy boots
You can take the kiddos out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the kiddos!
I love this picture of my guys
Cooking a big dinner is so much better when you have a partner in crime to drink with!  These are dirty Dr. Peppers and they are Good!

I am very thankful for these cuties!

A group photo...its almost like we have done this before?!

And a quick family photo!  I am very thankful that although we have moved far far away from our Texas home, we have family reasonably close by and can hop in a car and spend a holiday with them.  Luckily, Derek also has 2 sets of Aunt's and Uncles in Fishers, so we can always pop in to see them as well.  Derek's grandparents were in town for the holiday, so we got to see them briefly and the kiddos got to hug on their great grandparents.  I am so glad we got to see them again, because the last time we saw them was over the summer and Grayson wasn't walking yet...now he is running!

Halloween 2014!

Unlike in past years when we have been sweating in our costumes, we were FA-REEZING this year!  I know, I know, save your smarty pants comments :)  We took the kids to our future neighborhood to trick or treat, and hung out in one of our newfound friend/neighbors driveway to hand out candy.  The kids had a great time.

There was no debate as to what Jocelyn would be this Halloween.  Elsa from Frozen was every 4 year old girls choice, I am sure of that....we literally saw 45 of them running through the neighborhood.

I may have been a little lazy this year and opted for a skeleton "sweatshirt" for Grayson for his costume, shhhh don't tell.  I'm sure next year I will have a defiant 2 year old on my hands and we might pull the same trick again.  Oh well.

Little mother, Jocelyn

Might have been the largest basket of candy I have ever seen? Holy cow! And when we were done, there were literally like 10 pieces left, crazy!
So, yeah....After spending $10 on an "Olaf" Halloween bag, which I so conveniently left at home, we got to borrow our friends goodwill drink cooler.  Still get's the job done, and we have an awesome Olaf Halloween bag as well.

I let Derek take the kids trick or treating to a few houses.  He said Jocelyn totally knew what to do.  Grayson watched a few times, then got fussy so Derek let him out of the stroller.  Only to find out that he wanted to trick or treat too.  So cute!  That little guy is so smart!

It really was cold.  Derek and I were huddled by this little heater our friends had, but we had trouble getting it lit.  Lucky for us a "fireman" showed up to get the job done.

Not a bad view...I think we are going to like this neighborhood!

He was NOT having it.  Oh well... :(

My sweet little Elsa

So, I took Friday off of work, and Derek and I went to the Casino downtown to check it out and spend the day together.  It was while we were eating the lunch buffet that I came up with the awesome idea to dress up like our Crossfit coaches, Tony and Trudy at our gym's Halloween party that night.  If I haven't mentioned, Derek and I have started working out at a Crossfit gym, and we really like it, and it is something we can do together as a couple.  I am pretty sure we hit the nail on the head with our outfits judging by the reaction we got when we walked in the door.  And yes, Derek shaved his head...it has been 15 years since he last had it shaved, but I like it and I think he looks younger.

I wish Tony and Trudy were wearing their regular gym outfits so you could see the look we were going for.  Obviously, my wig was an over exaggeration of Trudy, but when you wait until the day of to go shopping...its slim pickings.  We had a lot of fun coming up with these outfits, and I hope they weren't too offended...hehe!
