How we told the Grandparents

So, I am not the most creative person in the world, but I thought this was cute. I had just returned from my company's national sales meeting in Disney World, so we used that as an "excuse" to stop by the grandparents house. I told them I had a gift for them from Florida (lie).

We first stopped by my parents house. I had the pacifier wrapped up in a small bag and gave it to Linda to open (since I was 100% sure Dad wouldn't understand what it was). She opened it up and tears started streaming down her face. She jumped up and screamed "We are going to be grandparents, again!!" Of course, it took Dad a few seconds to realize what that meant. He looked at me and said... "You? Oh, my goodness little Breckie, that is just wonderful" (Must be said in my Dad's East Texas accent, for those of you who know him :) ). They were both so excited and wanted to hear all about our big news.

Then we went to Derek's parents to share the news. We had a little trouble corralling them up (they were out running errands). So, once we got them together, we did the same thing. I gave Joyce the little bag with the pacifier. She carefully opened it, held the pacifier in her hand and stared at it (at this point, I am sure her heart was pounding), then she read the little tag attached and started screaming. She was sitting on the floor and couldn't get up fast enough to hug us! She started crying immediately...and Stephen sat there with the biggest grin on his face. Once we all settled down a bit, she kept saying "I just can't believe this", "Are you serious", "Is this for real", "For Pete's sake, Betty!!" I think it took a little bit for the news to sink in, she just couldn't believe it. We joined them for dinner, and I saw Joyce doing something under the table? Next thing I knew, she was calling a good friend of hers to tell the great news. (I think it had sunk in by then :) ).
