Thanksgiving 2012

Derek and I were able to take off the entire week of Thanksgiving to spend time together.  We kicked off the holiday with a trip to Illinois to pick up the tractor .  Everything went very smoothly, and Jocelyn was a champ in the car for 14 hours (she and I flew up there to meet Derek, and drove home together).

We hosted Thanksgiving this year and invited everyone!  We had 11 people, and everyone brought something yummy to eat!  Derek and I made the turkeys for the meal and decided that we wanted to try and fry one.  If you have never done this, its pretty cool and the turkey is VERY good.

Yes, he rides it around the neighborhood.....

Our spread

We also took Jocelyn to see Santa.  Sorry for the poor picture quality (I had a digital download issue-so this is a picture of a picture).  She did pretty good, but as you can tell from the look on her face....she was not digging Santa.  It was kind of hilarious.  She did what mommy wanted, which was take a picture, then she was out!!

Overall, we had a great Thanksgiving...I can't believe it has already come and gone :(  BUT, we decorated the house for Christmas, and now I am excited!!

Bass Family Reunion

Every year my family gets together for our family reunion.  This year we had it in Dallas because a lot of the family that have little kiddos live here, so it was pretty convenient!  As always, we had a blast.

We had a packed weekend full of activities, wine tasting, shopping, eating, visiting, golf tournament and of course smack talking.

Saturday night dinner was at my house.  I think we had 29 people!!  We hired my good friend, Kristin Dunn to take our pictures.  Even though we were down a few family members, I think we still got some great pictures!

The Bass Family

My Dad, his sister and 2 brothers

Dad and Linda
My family....I can't believe J is smiling...she was being a toot that day!

My Stepbrother David and his wife Mandy

My sister, Blaire and her husband Steven

My sister Kim, her husband Doug and my niece Cameron (from Indiana)

Dad and his daughters

I love saying this, and she hates it....but, we don't look anything a like do we?  Crazy!!

My family is pretty awesome, and I love to be around them.  We are very blessed!

Halloween 2012

I was excited about Halloween this year for a few reasons.  1.) Jocelyn is old enough to understand (kind of) the idea of trick or treating and 2.) A big group of us decided to meet up, have a pizza party and walk the neighborhood together.

Jocelyn and one of her favorite teachers, Ms. Cynthia (C-tia)

I snuck up to Jocelyn's school for a little Halloween Party.  She was super shy, and in the middle of the party looks up at me and says "I want to go home?!?"
Miss Jocelyn was supposed to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween.  However, as some of you know....2 year olds are in charge!  When we went to put her costume on she said, "no mommy".  Okie-dokey, no problem.  You can just wear this really cute outfit I got off of Zulilly for one million dollars....Thanks! :)

Jocelyn and her little friend Ava (they are a few months apart)

Miss Kaelyn and Miss Shae.  Always ready for a camera pose!
Chowing down on a little pizza
Could you just die?  This is sweet little Joseph.  His mom is the fun/crazy Canadian that lives in our neighborhood and this is what she put her son in!!  He is going to absolutely kill her one day, I love it!

Sweet picture of Jocelyn's outfit!

RHWOTK in our witch costumes!

Our attempt at a kiddo picture.  This lasted like 5 seconds and then the little ones were crawling away as quickly as possible.  It was like prom!

Kamdyn and Kyler

Miss Jocelyn waiting her turn to "trick or treat"

Miss Kyler loves little kids, and I mean with a capital "L".  She is so sweet and always says hello to Jocelyn and gives her hugs.  So, when she asked if she could pull Jocelyn in the really heavy wagon, I said absolutely!
She even walked her up to the last door to "trick or treat"

Jocelyn just let herself on into their house!!  Thank goodness it was our next door neighbor!  Jocelyn calls him Ca-wa (Carter).

Overall Halloween was a success!  I look forward to next year!

Catch up!

So, I have been MIA for about a month and all of a sudden I was like "oh crap, I need to do a post".  Ugh...we have been so busy with work and of course busy with our little lady.  I apologize ahead of time for the picture quality.  Every single one of these pictures was taken with an IPhone.  Isn't that how we live our lives now anyway?  This is a random assortment of some very recent pictures to share.

Luckily, we have the neighborhood park right outside our front door.  This time last year, Jocelyn wouldn't even go near the "big girl" slide.  Look at her now.  So confident!

I know...I am a bad mom...but is this not the cutest hiney ever?!?  I bet you want to just squish her cheeks!!  We are "attempting" potty training.  I guess I spoke too soon early on, because at first it went kind of well...surprisingly.  Now, she won't go in the potty at all.  She will talk about it, sit on it, play with it...but won't go in it?!?  I think over the Thanksgiving break, we will work on it again.  Jocelyn LOVES her "big girl panties" so much so that she puts them over her pull up.
 Whatever works girl!

Jocelyn's school had a fall festival, and for some reason she was super shy and wouldn't talk to any of her friends?  They would all run up and want to say hi, and she would turn her head and not look at them?  Weird...cause that is not how she is at school.  I guess if you take them out of their comfort zone, they aren't sure how to act.  We still managed to get a cute picture.  And, yes, it was literally 90 degrees outside, and I made her wear ugs, and a sweater because it was a cute outfit.  Nobody ever said being beautiful was easy :)

They had train rides...we went 3 times :)

I love this picture!  Actually one of the best of us in a while.  She actually let me fix her hair, but seconds later, she ripped the pig tails out...sigh...I have no idea why she won't let me fix her hair?  If she only knew what random strangers say "how old is he? oh, he is so cute. Oh, he went that way" she would probably let me fix her hair more often.  People think my sweet little girl looks like a boy?  Makes me sad, but I know that the awkward hair stage A.K.A mullet will not last forever.

I know this is a ghetto way of displaying a picture, but her school pictures actually turned out super cute!  The photographer made a boatload off of me for sure!

Jocelyn went to a friend's birthday party at Home Depot.  We (I) built a planter.  She helped paint though.

My silly little girl with her PJ pants on her head.

Jocelyn's vocabulary has developed so much ever since she moved up to the big kid classroom.  She actually makes sense and is able to communicate to us what she wants.  It amazes Derek and I the words and phrases she knows.  Often times we will hear what she says, look at each other and shrug our shoulders...cause we didn't teach it her!

Some of the funny phrases that she says that I wanted to document are:

Have a good day
Aww man
Wuv you (love you)
Count to 13, and sometimes an inter mitten 20
I want to go dunstuns (downstairs)
Mom...look hairpain (airplane)
Hush Toby or Toby be quiet (guess she gets that from me?)
Jocelyn what do you want for dinner? "Chicken and cheese"
Mommy you sit here
Mommy, I want to eat (and then goes and sits at the table and waits to be served)
Calls all of her friends by their names, and for some reason CANNOT pronounce her friend Dash's name?  She calls him Cash?  We will say D-D-D-Dash, and she says Cash.  Guess that will be his name forever?!?  Glad his parents are cool with it!

I feel like she is so smart, and I have no idea where she gets it from.  Little ones are truly sponges, and they watch your every move.  This little stinker can use my IPhone better than I can?  Crazy.  Jocelyn is a blessing in our lives and makes us smile every day!

Last minute trip...

A few weeks ago, Derek and I took a last minute trip to Costa Rica with some friends.  When I say last minute, it really was.  Our friends called us 2 weeks before the trip and asked if we could go?!? I originally said no, then realized Derek and I have not been on a "trip trip" since before I got pregnant with Jocelyn.  So, we decided to go for it.  Luckily the grandparents were more than willing to watch little J while we were gone.

 Our good friends, The Clarks

Our hang out...A.K.A the pool bar
Michael Jackson night got a little crazy.  I am choosing to NOT post any of the other pictures, I want to keep my perfect angel image.  :)

These guys were everywhere, and HUGE!

One day we went to Coco beach in Carlos' boat.  Who is Carlos you might ask?  He is the man we met on the beach, who took us in his boat to Coco beach, took us to lunch, and took us snorkeling.  Was that the smartest thing you have ever done? No, probably not....but it was fun!

Carlos waiting for his 14 year old brother to bring the boat back to the shore to pick us up.

The day before we left, Derek and I decided to get a massage on the beach.  If you look really close at the picture, you will see just how ghetto this set up was.  Hey....it was a 1 hour couples massage, on the beach for $65 total!  And, yes....that is a stray dog hanging out under the massage table :)

We had a great time, and I am so glad we were able to get away.  Much needed for sure!
