Wood Floors....and California Girls

As promised, below are a few before and after pictures of the BIG kitchen and floor remodel. We are finally DONE!!! I say "we", but that actually means "Derek". If any of you plan to embark on a home remodel project, don't do it when you are 6-8 months pregnant. I was absolutely NO help and all I did was complain the whole time. However, now it is done, and it looks wonderful! Derek did all of it except install the granite counter tops. He did the back splash in the kitchen and laid over 650 square feet of wood flooring all by himself. THANK YOU, DEREK!!

Kitchen Before (OMG!! HOW UGLY!!...

Dining Room After!

Now, some of you may be wondering about the title of this post. There is a song out on the radio now by Artist Katy Perry called "California Girls". For those unfamiliar with it, it is a cute summer time song talking about how California girls having sun kissed tans, and wear "daisy duke shorts with bikini tops".

During the course of this home remodel, we would turn on our home stereo to 106.1 (KISS FM) and listen to the radio. For those of you who listen to this station, you know that they play the same 10 songs ALL DAY LONG!!! So, we consider this song our home remodel anthem. Now, the cute part of this story is this,...Derek has never been one to memorize or even understand the words to ANY song on the radio. He usually just makes things up. Well, for some reason, he likes this song?? Every time it would come on the radio, I would hear him bust out his favorite line of the song from the other room... "Daisy Dukes...Bikini's on top"...and then that was all that he would sing. It makes me laugh, because of all of the other words to the song, he chooses to memorize that line?!? Very cute! And he will probably kill me for posting it on the blog (but he is out of town right now) :) HeHe!

Work Baby Shower

I must first give a huge THANK YOU! to our wonderful Coordinator, Kami. She is not only absolutely wonderful at everything she does at work, she has also listened to me: complain about every ailment of my pregnancy, complain about my house being under construction, talk about every doctor appointment and complain about life in general. And she does this with a huge smile on her face...and she even laughs at my jokes!

Kami planned a baby shower for me and Miss J at work. She got a large group of people to pitch in towards the purchase of a pack n play and also our travel system stroller!! Yeah! We also received some other wonderful baby goodies. Once again, we are so thankful for all of the generous people in our life. We are very lucky.

Here are some pictures from the shower...

Me and the Wonderful Kami

Red Velvet Cake, yum!

I know what you are thinking... " Are Breck and Kami the only ones at the shower?" No, we weren't...there were like 2 other people there. Just Kidding. It was actually really funny, because there were a bunch of guys there watching me open gifts. I know they were there to support the cause, but I know all they really wanted was a piece of cake. He-He!

I just had to include this picture, because it literally looks like a torpedo is under my shirt?!? My stomach is unbelievable! And to think...I have 6 more weeks until this torpedo launches.

Once again, THANK YOU to all of my wonderful co-workers. You make work enjoyable and I am lucky to be a part of a great Company.

My 30th Birthday

Well, I am officially 30 now. It is kind of weird?? I keep telling everyone that it is not because I am not proud of what I have accomplished in my career or personal life, but the fact that I have been around for 30 years and I have no clue where all of the years went?!? Life passes you by so quickly. You spend all of your childhood years trying to "grow up" and then you become a "grown up" and you cant stop the years from passing you by.

Derek planned a wonderful day for my BIG 3-0. He kept asking me what I wanted, and I told him "something memorable". He did good! He got me a flip cam to capture our family memories. For some reason he wanted to take pictures of me opening it?

Derek also arranged for us to have a suite at the Ranger game. Thank goodness the weather cooperated...we were worried. The rain actually made the weather pleasant for the game. Much appreciated from this 8 month pregnant lady!! We had a great time. Thank you Derek for planning a special day!

Gigantic Baby!!!

We went in for our "28 Week" sonogram, which actually ended up happening on Week 31/almost 32. Everything looks great! We are so thankful for our healthy little girl. Dr. Reinhardt said that the limbs, heart, feet, toes, face look perfect. He even said that our little girl has a perfect brain...( I am not sure if he was aware that both of her parents went to A&M?). Then he told us that Jocelyn is weighing in at approximately 4.5lbs right now. Wow! Then he dropped the hammer on us by telling us that if she continues to grow at this rate, she could weigh as much as 8.5 to 9lbs at birth. OH, MY, GOODNESS! Really? I am officially nervous now for the birth.

THANK YOU!!!

On Saturday some dear friends of mine hosted a baby shower for me and Miss J. Marcy, Kim, Karley and Deni are friends that I know from all different parts of my life, but were able to come together and host the most beautiful, color coordinated, detail oriented shower ever!!

I wanted to say THANK YOU again to everyone who came, It meant so much to me. I felt like I didn't get to say thank you or talk to everyone as much as I would have liked, 2 hours just flies by so quickly. Jocelyn is so lucky and blessed, she doesn't even know it yet. :)

Here are a few pictures from the shower...

Kim's Dad, Steve, made this absolutely adorable stork. He assured me that he used 100% Sherwin Williams Paint! Thank you, Steve!

The flowers at the shower were absolutely beautiful (Thank you Kim). I definitely noticed all of the detail with the flowers, the river rock at the bottom, the colors and most importantly...my mom's favorite flowers (Lilly) were everywhere! It is times like this that make me miss her a lot, but seeing things that remind me of her make me smile.

This was a really cute idea too!

This was the first time I have seen Jocelyn's monogram on anything...very exciting!

This table was beautiful as well. You would almost think these ladies have thrown a shower before?? Just Kidding! The food was great! The fruit was nicely displayed in a watermelon that was carved out to look like a baby carriage...How cute! (Thanks Karley, you have mad skills!)

Yes, took pictures of the food. I am pregnant...I can't help it! Take a look at these precious cake balls. No, people, these are not from a bakery...my Suzie homemaker friend Kim (as if she has nothing else to do) made them from scratch, and decorated them. Too cute! Very tasty also! I am very thankful for the gallon size Ziploc bag of cake balls that they sent home with me. :)

A picture of the beautiful hostesses. Marcy, Karley,Kim and Deni

I just had to get a picture of all of the gifts once we got home. They covered both my dining room and kitchen table...and the floor.

Now, this last paragraph will make the most sense to those of you who were able to make it to the shower...

I am sure you are all somewhat terrified at the fact that I am about to become a mother, since I knew what absolutely nothing was called. I hope I was loads of entertainment for you all. I will have you know that when I showed Derek all of the presents, I pulled out the "moose" and he said " Oh, is that a donkey?". Looks like we both need to freshen up on the animal book. Once, again thank you everyone for coming. It was great to see some faces I don't get to see often. I am so thankful for all of the gifts...it "depends" my heart! (wink, wink).

7 month belly shot

I am officially "Big". Ugh! I just shed a tear looking back at my belly shots from month 5 and 6. I looked cute then! People would say, "oh, how cute...it looks like you have a small ball under your shirt". Now, I get no comments, hence...I am getting big. I know that means she is getting big and healthy, but I am not only officially "Big"...I am officially "uncomfortable". I have what is called posterior pelvic pain, which sucks! Life is great when I sit or lay, but walking or standing hurts really bad. I am also now "waddling" which is very attractive (Derek confirmed this).

Jocelyn is very active in my belly. She holds aerobics classes daily and kicks my right rib cage, and sticks her butt out causing a "poltergeist like" deformation of my lower right belly. That is really weird to see, and it hurts really bad. I am glad she is active though, because it relieves any worries that I might have. Derek has been able to feel her for weeks, and we have so much fun feeling her kick.

As August is fast approaching, we are quickly getting the house in order. Derek has started the wood floor project and should be done by this weekend, Right honey?? I will post pictures of the final product. Then it is on to the nursery. All we have to do is paint and put everything together. I can't wait to see it all done, and most of all I can't wait to meet Miss Jocelyn!! We are so excited!!
